Vera Schroepel is a Child Protection and Emergencies Specialist with over a decade of experience leading humanitarian and development programmes in complex settings. Her work focuses on child protection, gender-based violence, human rights, and social services in contexts of displacement, migration, and crisis. She has worked closely with governments, UN agencies, and international NGOs, bringing together technical expertise with strong coordination, operational delivery, and strategic planning to support evidence-based, sustainable programmes and reforms.
Vera has led large-scale, multi-stakeholder initiatives, including serving as UNICEF Ukraine’s lead for the Government of Ukraine’s Resilience Centers initiative – an integrated network of social service hubs designed to improve access and quality of support for children and families in conflict-affected settings. Her experience also includes supporting governments to integrate anticipatory action into local protection strategies and developing national and sub-national implementation roadmaps, action plans, and training programmes adopted by public institutions.
Vera’s work is grounded in participatory processes and emphasizes equity, inclusion, and cross-sectoral coordination across child protection, social services, health, education, and emergency systems. She holds a Master’s degree in International Peace and Security from King’s College London and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, and is based in Spain.
