Toby Long, PhD, PT, FAPTA is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and the College of Arts and Sciences at Georgetown University.  She is the founder and Director of the Georgetown University Certificate in Early Intervention program. As a Senior Consultant to the Early Childhood Personnel Center at the University of Connecticut, she led the development of cross-disciplinary competencies for early childhood intervention professionals. Her work focuses on strengthening early childhood intervention systems, services, and workforce capacity through evidence-based, collaborative approaches.

Toby has extensive experience developing and delivering training in contemporary early childhood intervention practices, with a strong emphasis on participatory, equitable, and team-based models that build national ownership and incorporate diverse perspectives. She is a prolific author and serves on the editorial boards of Physical and Occupational Therapy in Pediatrics and Infants and Young Children. Toby collaborates globally on initiatives supporting infants and toddlers with disabilities and developmental delays. She holds a physical therapy degree from Boston University, a master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education from George Washington University, and a doctoral degree in Human Development from the University of Maryland. She is based in the United States.
