Matt Bakan-Fischer has been with Maestral International since 2019 and is the Business Development Manager. He supports the organization’s growth by identifying new project opportunities, managing proposal development, and tracking and analyzing business development data to inform strategic decision-making.
His role focuses on market research, opportunity tracking, and managing the end-to-end proposal development process, working closely with Maestral’s Advisors to ensure high-quality, competitive submissions. Matt leads project teaming, maintains Maestral’s extended roster of experts, and supports partner engagement and recruitment. He also helps manage relationships with organizational partners and contributes to internal systems that support Maestral’s growth.
Prior to joining Maestral, Matt worked in nonprofit higher education and university access. Most recently, he served as Managing Director of Graduate Admissions at Augsburg University, where he also taught as an adjunct professor and supported campus-wide intercultural development initiatives. He previously completed a term of service with AmeriCorps through College Possible, supporting underrepresented students in pursuing higher education. Matt holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Psychology and a Master of Arts in Systematic Theology.
