Joanna Ison has been with Maestral International since 2017 and is the Senior Manager for Strategy and Programs. She works closely with Maestral’s President, Board of Directors, and Thematic Hub Leads to support organizational strategy, growth, and the effective delivery of Maestral’s technical work across its global portfolio.
Her role focuses on supporting consultants and project teams, strengthening internal systems and policy processes, contributing to organizational strategy and new business efforts, and fostering collaboration across Maestral’s global team. Joanna also oversees Maestral’s communications, including the website, newsletter, and social media, and helps facilitate internal team learning.
Before joining Maestral, Joanna held roles in grants and program management at Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota and the American Library Association, and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kyrgyzstan. She holds a Master of Science in Justice, Law and Society from American University and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
