Here’s what’s happening around the world in the area of child welfare and protection.
From January to May 2016, Maestral carried out a formative evaluation of the child protection system in the Union of the Comoros with the support of UNICEF.
Comoros has taken several actions to improve and strengthen the child protection system since the ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1991. However, the systemic approach has not been fully sufficient due to weak human and material resources. Traditional approaches to child protection are not sufficient in preventing problems, nor in providing an adequate response.
The Child Protection Policy confirms the commitment of the Government to a more holistic view of the multiple risks children face and to provide necessary services, support and assistance to protect children and families.
