Toby Long, PhD, PT, FAPTA is Professor, Department of Pediatrics, Georgetown University and on the faculty of the GU Minors in Education, Inquiry, and Justice and Disability Studies in the College of Arts and Science. She is the Founder and former Director of the GU Certificate in Early Intervention program. Dr. Long is a Senior Consultant for the Early Childhood Personnel Center at the University of Connecticut, for which she developed the cross-disciplinary competencies for ECI professionals. Dr. Long received her physical therapy degree from Boston University, a master’s degree in early childhood special education from George Washington University and a doctoral degree in human development from University of Maryland. She is a prolific author and is on the editorial boards of Physical and Occupational Therapy in Pediatrics and Infants and Young Children. Dr. Long collaborates with colleagues throughout the world on serving infants and toddlers with disabilities and delays using contemporary, evidenced based practices. She is dedicated to participatory, equitable, and collaborative team‐based approaches that build ownership among national stakeholders and consider the views of all participants. She has extensive experience in developing ECI systems, services, and most notably training in evidence-based early childhood intervention
