Rosemary McCreery worked for the United Nations for most of her career, mainly with UNICEF but also with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the UN Secretariat. She had field postings in West and East Africa, in south-east Asia and in Eastern Europe as well as in New York. Since her retirement she has undertaken consultancies on child protection, mostly for Maestral of which she was a founding partner, as well as on organisational development for several UN agencies. She was until recently the Deputy Chair of the Board of Trocaire, the Irish branch of Caritas. She serves as a lay member of the mental health tribunal system in Ireland.
