Dr. Vanessa do Nascimento Fonseca is a professor in the Department of Psychology at Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) in Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She is involved in research and projects promoting human rights, focusing on gender, sexuality, and violence prevention. Dr. Fonseca has over twenty years of experience in gender equality research and program design, advising on sexual and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS prevention, parental care, and gender-based violence in countries across Latin America and Africa. She is the author of the book “Precisamos falar com os homens?” (Do we need to talk to men?): Coloniality and Strategies for Transforming Masculinities. Dr. Fonseca’s work includes engaging men in parental care, increasing male involvement in education, and reducing corporal punishment, with a longstanding commitment to promoting gender equality globally.
