Strengthening Case Management in Rwanda

By Mari Hickmann

Maestral supported the Government of Rwanda to assess the child protection system with a focus on case management, and develop strategies and implementing mechanisms to strengthen case management for child protection through, among others, enhanced case management standards.

Over nearly two years, Maestral worked with the GoR to map and assess the child protection system, conduct an in-depth legal and policy analysis of mandates and institutional arrangements, developed a costed action plan for strengthening the child protection system, developed a national child protection case management framework and trained all government social workers in the new framework. In September of this year, Rwanda’s National Child Development Agency officially launched this case management frameworkas a critical step in providing integrated child protection services. Maestral was delighted to be part of this important work and was supported by Makere University in Uganda and various consultants working within the child protection system in Rwanda.
